Shoot to Kill forms the third act in the series, marking a distinct shift in tone. The optimism of We Come in Peace has receded, replaced by something more complex and uneasy. Rather than assigning blame or declaring a victor, the painting considers the moment when play becomes confrontation and escalation begins to carry consequences.

The conflict has moved from the suburban street into the yard -a familiar domestic space transformed into an unlikely battleground. The lawn is lush and overgrown, its towering blades of grass dwarfing both toys and soldiers. This manipulation of scale keeps the scene firmly in miniature while lending the encounter an unexpected sense of gravity. The beauty of the grass sits in deliberate contrast to the violence unfolding within it.

More robots have entered the fight. Their glossy red bodies stand vividly against the greens of the lawn and the subdued military tones of the Marines. Some remain upright and imposing; others lie fallen, broken or toppled. No longer isolated curiosities, they have become a force - although clearly not an invincible one.

The Marines have responded with equal commitment. Artillery has arrived, helicopters hover low, and weapons are raised and fired. The composition suggests urgency and disorder, yet offers no clear resolution. Figures lie prone on both sides and casualties are visible, leaving the notion of victory deliberately uncertain.

It is this absence of triumph that gives Shoot to Kill much of its tension. The title is direct and uncompromising, signalling the point at which imagined conflict acquires a more serious edge. Familiar childhood scenarios remain present, but the innocence associated with them has begun to fall away.

In the distance, the suburban house remains a quiet witness, anchoring the scene within ordinary domestic life. Its presence heightens the transformation taking place in the foreground: a yard associated with familiarity and safety has become the setting for conflict.
