Seabreeze captures a moment of quiet balance between wind, water and sail. At its centre is a gaff-rigged pond yacht dating from the 1920s, an era when model yachting flourished as both recreation and craft.

Built with elegant proportions and purposeful simplicity, the yacht reflects a tradition in which sailing depended on judgment rather than technology. Once launched, these small vessels sailed independently across public ponds, their course determined by the careful setting of sails and the reading of the breeze.

Model yachting was equally an exercise in craftsmanship. Woodworking, metalworking and sailmaking came together in boats often built in home workshops and school manual arts classes - skills passed from one generation to the next through making.

Here, Seabreeze is placed at Snells Beach, looking east across familiar waters towards Kawau Island, Taungamaro (Beehive) Island and Scandrett Regional Park.
