Odyssey to the Stars Gallery Edition
By Ross Jones
Inspired by childhood memories of the Apollo moon landings, tin toy rockets and the boundless imagination of the space age, Tin Rocket is a nostalgic celebration of wonder, adventure and possibility. The painting recalls a time when children watched astronauts walk on the moon before heading outside to launch their own homemade rockets into the sky.
Drawing on the retro toy designs and science-fiction influences of the 1950s, 60s and 70s, the work captures the optimism of an era that believed the future was limitless and the stars were waiting to be explored. More than a toy, the tin rocket becomes a symbol of curiosity, hope and the simple joy of imagining what lies beyond.
